First Harvest!

When ever I water my container garden, I take a moment to check the health of my plants.  I have a little conversation with them, how are they, do you look sick, are you looking healthy, and do you need some extra love today (like deadheading).  I know it sounds a little weird, but it is very important to take a good look at your plants everyday!  You don't have to have a talk with them, just take the five seconds to get really good look.  It is amazing what you could find such as insects, diseases or..... harvest time!!!

Behold the beauty of my first radishes!

French Breakfast Radishes from Lake Valley Organics

I planted nine radish seeds with a kale transplant in my 10" tall x 10" round container.  They are not the best companion plants, but by the time I realized it it was too late.  My kale is doing okay and these came out fine as well.   I plan to add some flowers to this container to give it some pizzaz when all the radishes have been eaten up.

see if you can spot the spider! (note, it might be easier to see him if you click the picture to see the enlarged size)
I guess I am having a salad tonight or radishes dipped in ranch!  Yummy!
